Xidan Subway Station

Xidan Subway Station (西单站) is an underground station on Subway Line 1.

Station Layout

The Line 1 Xidan station is located just east of the Xidan crossing. This station has 5 exits at ground level and 2 floors below ground. The station uses a through concourse on Underground Level 1 and an island platform on Underground Level 2.

Ground Level: Exits

The Line 1 part of Xidan station has 5 exits.

  • A (northwest exit): -; stairs and 3 escalators

  • B (north exit): Chang’anjie (Chang’an Street) North;
  • C (northeast exit): Chang’anjie (Chang’an Street) North;
  • D (southeast exit): Chang’anjie (Chang’an Street) South;
  • E (southwest exit): Chang’anjie (Chang’an Street) South;

Underground Level 1: Concourse

Undergrond Level 1 uses a through concourse. Passengers may choose their exit even after passing through the faregates.

  • This station has two staffed ticket counters, which double as Fare Adjustment counters inside the paid area

Interchange Passageway

The interchange passageways with Line 4 have not yet entered service. When they do enter into service, they’ll take the form of two one-way passageways. Please check signage in good time.

Toilets

Toilets are outside the paid area and are by Exit A.

Underground Level 2: Platform

Underground Level 2 uses an island platform. Doors will open on the left. There are neither safety barriers nor screen doors on the platform. 4 sets of stairs or escalators connect the platform with the concourse.

Interchange

This is a 2-line interchange station. You may change to Line 4. Method used: interchange passageway.

Line 4 has not yet opened. Transfers are presently not possible.

Change to Line 4

Passengers changing from Line 1 to Line 4 need to use the interchange passageways accessible from the concourse. At-level escalators are available.

Facilities for Handicapped Passengers

History

Station History

  • October 10, 1992: Xidan station (Line 1) opened

  • December 12, 1992: Ticket sales begin
  • February 16 - March 25, 2000: Xidan station closed; Line 1 eastern terminus moved back to Fuxingmen
  • June 28, 2000: Through Line 1 services from Pingguoyuan via Xidan and Tian’anmen West to Sihui East begin
  • September 28, 2009: Line 4 part and interchange passageways expected to enter service
